I discovered this hidden alpine tarn and jetty while exploring the highlands near Coronet Peak and on my first visit saw plenty of potential with the right light and conditions (there was no snow on my first visit). After a day of heavy snow falls across the nearby peaks I returned to the same location and was rewarded to find snow over the jetty. The lighting wasn't quite right so I continued exploring further up a mountain track and returned a couple of hours later. The lighting and conditions were finally perfect to capture this unique photograph. The mountain range you can see in the background is The Remarkables. |
