Beautiful Lake Webya is nestled behind the iconic tourist town of Noosa on Queensland's beautiful sunshine coast. With it's gnarled branches and twisted roots, the Weyba Tree has become a favourite location for Queensland photographer's.
I first visited the Weyba Tree with my 5yo son when we were staying at nearby Peregian Beach looking for a new home. Our family had recently escaped the never-ending Victorian lockdowns, at the time the most severe lockdown in the world. We had quarantined for 2 weeks in Darwin before driving down to Uluru then across to the Sunshine Coast. With our newfound freedom, exploring the edge of this serene lake created a beautiful memory for both us.
We eventually found our perfect home only a short 20 minute drive from here, moved and settled in.
Some 6 months later I awoke early one Winter morning and saw the beginning of a beautiful sunrise in the distance. My boy was keen to join me again so we both got dressed and raced out. The wind was dead calm so we decided to head to the Weyba Tree in the hope of capturing some reflections of the intricate sky above. The gamble paid off, the lake was like a mirror - it looked simply stunning!
As the sun shared it's first light for the day, it shone through a small gap in the clouds and lit up the scene beautifully. I captured this unique shot of the amazing tree and it's intricate root system with the dead calm waters behind it.
What an incredible moment to witness, and how blessed I was to have my boy with me too! |

For unframed prints and gallery wall stock (framed prints), Australia wide delivery takes 1-2 weeks and International delivery takes 2-3 weeks. For custom framed prints, Australia wide delivery generally takes 6-8 weeks and International delivery time takes 8-10 weeks.
