Elephant Rocks are situated in beautiful William Bay National Park close to Green's Pool in the far south western corner of Western Australia. As you can see, the rocks strangely resemble a herd of elephants wading through the water.
It had been a long day of driving when we finally arrived at Elephant Rocks. I’d stayed in Cervantes the night before to shoot the Pinnacles then picked up fellow photographer and good friend Russ McLean from Perth Airport on the way through.
We checked out Green’s Pool on our arrival but weren’t inspired by the conditions so kept walking to Elephant Rocks.
We climbed up as high as possible on the rocks, to get an almost aerial view of the beautiful cove below.
The sun was hiding when we arrived but just before sunset it peeked through briefly allowing me to capture this stunning scene.
I was tempted to jump in for a swim but we had another hour of driving ahead to our motel in Albany with plenty of wildlife to dodge!
